advantages does the Collegiate School provide to home school students
over the college's current Dual Enrollment program?
The Collegiate High School provides several distinct
advantages to home school students. First, charter school participants
are provided all college textbooks free of charge. Free college
texts, plus the advantage earning college-credit on a full-time
basis free of charge are significant cost savings to home school
students and their families.
Additionally, the Collegiate High School offers
a detailed and individualized program of study that leads directly
to a college degree rather than a random acquisition of college
credits. The charter school provides easier access to comprehensive
learning support services which are directly related to a college-level
curriculum and offers a wider selection of and access to college-level
courses. Charter school students have access to technical programs
of study such as computer drafting and design, commercial art, computer
engineering and more. Charter school students have the opportunity
to customize a program of study that is specific to a student's
upper division major and prerequisites. Other advantages include
the unique use of technology and many unique support services.
Since
the Collegiate High School is approved by the Okaloosa County
School Board, do home school students need to enroll in the public
school system in order to participate in the charter school?
Although the Collegiate High School is approved by the Okaloosa
County School District, it operates under separate guidelines established
by Florida statue. Therefore, home school students will not need
to enroll in the Okaloosa County public school system in order to
participate in the Collegiate High School.
What
kind of high school diploma do charter school participants receive?
The school is authorized by Florida statute to issue its own high
school diploma, just like any other school. |
